Who is Taylor?

Taylor McLaurin (b. 2002, New York) is an experimental lens-based artist who aims to bring curiosity back into the photographic medium. Through a myriad of experimental techniques, Taylor delves into the complexities of the oddities of life and personal experience.

With her work revolving around the reclamation of entropy and disorder —seeing it as an extension of wonder— Taylor invites viewers to explore the beauty in and curiosity inherent in the chaotic peripheral world. Alike the oddity that she wishes to convey, Taylor’s approach to image making is an unorthodox one, as images are made iteratively and tactilely as objects, mess is encouraged, and process takes precedence over finality.

Recently earning her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design, Taylor is now based in New York.
